			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jumpstart for Young Children&#8217;s Read for the Record is the non-profit organization&#8217;s annual event to break the world record of people reading the same book on the same day and raise awareness and money for child literacy programs. Alan art directed, designed and illustrated this nationwide campaign featuring a brand experience that carried through from identity to advertisements in national magazines, website, POP displays, special edition campaign book and reading events held nationwide with everyone from celebrities, the Today Show and the White House reading to kids. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Illuminated Forest is an imaginary environment featuring a multi-media installation and performance space that reacts to human presence. The exhibit explores the human impact on our environment through video projections, composed sounds, 16 foot live tree sculptures and sensors measuring human distance, movement and noise levels that activate sound and visuals in the environment. To complete this imaginary environment, Alan co-curated environmental  works found in little eddies and surprises in and around the interactive  exhibit and live performances by local and international artists and musicians occurred in the space exploring environmental ideas. The Illuminated Forest installation was conceived by Alan So and developed in collaboration with artists Jorge Bachmann, Agnes Szelag and Ben Bracken with participation by Jessica Resmond for Green Sound: <a href="http://www.projectsoundwave.com">Soundwave Festival&#8217;s</a> fourth season.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.projectsoundwave.com">Soundwave Festival&#8217;s</a> fourth season featuring innovative works and captivating performances by local and international artists and musicians exploring the natural world and environmental sustainability. Alan chaired the curatorial committee, artistic directed and oversaw the entire festival that included over 75 artists participating in the summer-long festival and featuring performances inside historic WWII bunkers (in partnership with the National Park Service), churches, and famed sculptures at the de Young Museum, on city streets, parks and plazas and an Illuminated Forest, an artist-imaged environment reactive to human presence exhibited at The Lab gallery. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.projectsoundwave.com">Soundwave Festival&#8217;s</a> third season (2008) featuring innovative works and  captivating performances by local and international artists and  musicians exploring movement and sound.  Alan chaired the curatorial committee, artistic directed and oversaw the entire festival that included over 40 artists creating moving audience interactive performances, motion-sensored dance, sound drawings, soundwalks, and the &#8220;AudioBus&#8221;, music performances on a moving double-decker bus, amongst others. Soundwave was created by Alan So and  produced by <a href="http://www.me-di-ate.net">ME&#8217;DI.ATE Art Group.</a></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Pyramid Breweries, one of the premier craft breweries in the U.S., created a new beer line called &#8220;Brewer&#8217;s Reserve&#8221;, a series of limited edition high-end brews of popular style beers. Alan designed the brand identity, promotional materials, signage and packaging experience for this new line and its first release &#8220;Imperial Hefeweizen&#8221; including beer bottles, tap handles, cartons in retail stores, distributors and their own breweries. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Soul of the City is Glide Memorial&#8217;s most ambitious fundraising event featuring entertainment, food and wine, and a silent and live auction hosted by the likes of Sharon Stone, Danny Glover and Margaret Cho. Alan art directed and designed the brand and event experience<a href="http://www.the-m-line.com" target="_blank"></a> that included bus shelters, posters, invitations, website and a video documentary of local San Franciscans finding out what they believe is the &#8220;Soul of the City&#8221;. Alan was part of the event committee that raised over $800,000 in one night to support services for the sick and homeless, the highest grossing fundraising for  event Glide to-date. Once known as a industrial government property, the brand experience helped move it to a new perception of being &#8220;open to the public&#8221; with the new Ferry Building and Embarcadero and waterfront revitalizations. Alan helped developed the mark conceived by designer Joycelyn Lee and developed the animated video piece for the new logo&#8217;s public unveiling. Art directed by Mya Kramer. The Predators were looking for innovative ways to promote its advertising opportunities with the team and its home arena, a large part of their revenue. Alan art directed and designed an interactive CD-ROM that showed the fiery excitement of the Predators while exploring all the possibilities for a prospective advertiser. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.projectsoundwave.com">Soundwave Festival&#8217;s</a> second season (2006) featuring innovative works and  captivating performances by local and international artists and musicians exploring all encompassing sonic experiences. Alan chaired the curatorial committee, artistic directed and oversaw the entire festival that included over 25 artists creating live film score improvisations, audience interactive performances, invented vegetable instruments for the head, hands and feet, and surround sound performance installation Soundspace inspired by artist Francisco Lopez.  Soundwave was created by Alan So and produced by <a href="http://www.me-di-ate.net">ME&#8217;DI.ATE Art Group</a>.</p>
